Dear Mama,
I know that the number 1s in your life are your little ones; they are the first thing on your mind when you wake up, they are the last thing you think about when you go to bed.
Your to-do list is never-ending … laundry, lunches packed, a house in order, bringing cupcakes for their “special day” at school, driving them from activity to activity.
Then there’s your significant other who you tend to put before yourself, micromanage his schedule against the families, trying to fit a date night in because you don’t want to lose connection
Does all this sound familiar? like really, when are you slotting time in that jam-packed calendar for YOU???
Remember that YOU matter, and you don’t have to do it all!!!
You CAN say no to doing ALL the things EVERY TIME – this is a hard one for moms; it seems we are ingrained to please all the people, even if it means neglecting ourselves
You CAN buy those cupcakes from a store instead of making them from scratch (the kids won’t care!) They will still eat them ?
You CAN schedule a workout, yoga session, massage, or coffee date… this isn’t selfish, this is a necessity! You must FILL YOUR CUP and put yourself first in order to live YOUR QUALITY LIFE.
If you continue to burn the candle at both ends and leave no time for self-care, this will leave you exhausted, sick, and irritable – all the things you do NOT want to be.
When you take the time to schedule in time for yourself… and yes, I do mean LITERALLY SCHEDULE THIS IN YOUR CALENDAR, magical things will happen -You will be happier, healthier, and more patient, which means you are able to show up for those little ones as the best version of you
Here are some examples of self-care activities that you can incorporate into your life:
Going for a walk
Journaling
Meditation
Yoga
Taking a bath
Going for a massage or pedicure
Listening to calming music
Having a cup of tea and taking the time to enjoy it
